TikTok, one of the most renowned social media platforms banned in the USA. According to reliable sources like CNN, TikTok stopped working in the US on January 19, 2025. Moreover, the US Supreme Court won the prolonged legal battle against the Chinese organization on January 17, 2025, and further implemented the ban due to authority concerns.
Right off the bat, many users flocked all over the internet, showing resentment for the law and judiciary. More than 170 million Americans faced a significant disruption due to this sudden ban. The law enacted by the US judiciary unveils: “A law banning TikTok has been implemented in the US.
As mentioned above, the US government struck hard at TikTok due to its Chinese ownership and security concerns for a massive wave of data leaks. In addition, TikTok officially suspended its services after long contemplations with the US judiciary system.
Besides TikTok, here below are the applications owned by ByteDance which is banned in the US: –
- Lemon8: A photo-based social media app
- CapCut: A video editing application
- Gauth: An application for students
- Hypic: A photo editing tool with AI features

Will Trump’s Intervention Save TikTok and the Future of American Influencers?
Just after the sudden ban of TikTok, Donald Trump, the newly elected president of America, vowed that he would save TikTok and might give a 90-day postponement against the ban. Eventually, the law enacted allows the president to give a 90-day extension from the date the law came into effect.
However, the question remains: “Will Trump Save TikTok?” It is believed that during this 90-day extension period, ByteDance might negotiate with the US judiciary by reinvesting or setting a partnership in the US.
Besides being the president of the United States of America, Trump is also known for his negotiating skills in setting up a business.
So, this may override the law enacted by the Supreme Court by reestablishing the organization’s legal and structural base and providing friendly terms and conditions for the US government.
